Exciting Choices for Hospitality Floors for 2024

As the hospitality industry evolves, we are seeing significant changes in choices for hotel flooring. In the past, hotel flooring was primarily picked for its durability, functionality and neutrality. However, in recent years, there has been a swing to using flooring as a design element, enhancing the overall guest experience, especially in boutique and luxury hotels. Gone are the understated neutrals which are now being replaced with bold colours, strong patterns and texture… lots of texture.

This year materials such as cork, rustic wood, stone or tile are going to be popular as they add depth and interest to your hotel rooms and common areas. Of course, if you don’t want, or are unable to use, the real thing then maybe you should consider Luxury Vinyl Tiles (LVT).

LVT has been gaining popularity as a cost-effective alternative to hardwood and stone flooring, and it offers a wide range of design options. With advancements in technology, LVT can now skilfully mimic the 'look' of other materials like wood, stone, ceramic tile and even concrete, but it remains a warm, water-resistant, cleanable and durable option. It is an ideal choice for the high-traffic areas in your hotel. LVT comes in many tile shapes, patterns and textures, giving you the choice to create your very own unique look. And, by combining a variety of different looks such as wood and ceramic tile you can define areas or create pathways or create sitting areas to help guide your guests.

The increasing awareness and concern about environmental issues has also been reflected in customer choices and we are seeing an uptick in demand for sustainable and eco-friendly options. Hotels are now choosing flooring materials that are made from recycled or renewable resources such as bamboo, seagrass, jute and sometimes cork, as they are not only eco-friendly but also add a unique and natural touch to your hotel interior. Another plus is their insulating and sound proofing qualities creating a more comfortable experience for your guests. There is a growing demand for sustainable carpeting options too, like pure wool or recycled manmade fibres.

Along with bold colours, geometric patterns are making a comeback and we are seeing a lot of squares, circles, stripes, chevrons and herringbones. These patterns add elegance and sophistication to any space and can be incorporated into various flooring materials like tiles, carpet, or hardwood.

Your hotel floors are your largest interior space and an important part of your customer journey... from the foyer to reception through the hallways to the room. The aim is to create an interesting and memorable experience for your guests, all the way... with no let-downs. This year, hotels will be putting a lot of oomph into their floors as we all now understand much more about the role our floors play in the feel-good factor that keeps our guests coming back time and time again.

The journey all begins at your welcome mat… we can help you make it an exciting one!
