Bringing Homely Vibes to the Office

As we head into the second half of 2023, office interior design is taking a turn back to the homely, with the goal of creating comfortable, relaxed environments for employees who are returning to the office. Creating an atmosphere that is more like ‘home’ is becoming increasingly popular in the workplace. The current trend of bringing in warm vibes and making an inviting workspace has been shown to encourage collaboration, creativity, and productivity.

Gone are the days when offices were designed to look and feel sterile. Today's office spaces are user friendly and inspiring.

Embracing nature indoors is one of the biggest office interior trends this year. Incorporating organic elements into the office includes using organic shapes in furniture and decor, using natural materials such as wood, wool, jute, seagrass and stone and adding plants. Plants also help to purify the air and have been shown to boost morale and improve concentration. Bold, colourful, patterned walls and carpets add personality and create an energized and motivating environment.

Sustainability and eco-friendly designs are high on most people’s lists. Using recycled materials, reducing energy consumption, and using renewable energy sources are now key components of the future office.

Customized workspaces are on the rise as well. This means creating a space that works well for the employees who use it. In addition to desk and chair ergonomics, office layouts will feature breakout areas, private zones for quiet concentration, and casual collaboration spaces.

Multifunctional furniture will continue to gain popularity. Pieces that serve multiple purposes, such as a chair that can double as storage, or a table that can be adjusted to be used as a standing desk makes the most of limited space.

Overall, creating a homely office space will help to foster a great working situation and promote a sense of well-being easing the transition from working at home to going back to the office.
