Let’s All be Clear About Clearance

13th June 2022

Have you ever wondered when you see those familiar brightly coloured signs – CLEARANCE, EVERYTHING MUST GO!… where all that merchandise comes from?

Well here is the run down and the reasons why you can get a really good deal in a Clearance Sale.

Change in Style

Very often the manufacturers make minor changes to the design of a piece of furniture. These changes can be as small as the shape of a chair pedestal, the curve of a sofa’s arm, the colour of the glass used in a cabinet or the finish on a table top. Such changes do not affect the function of the furniture but what it does mean is that, we the retailer, can no longer use our shop floor models to sell from… regardless of how short a time it has been on display. Pieces like these will therefore be marked down and sold off as a clearance item – sometimes almost brand new!

Change of Plans

Sometimes a customer’s circumstances change unexpectedly and they no longer need the piece of furniture that they have ordered, and although there is a fee for having ordered and stored the item for them… ultimately the furniture will stay with us and it will end up in our Clearance Department as we cannot return bespoke items to the manufacturer ourselves!

Discontinued

From time to time manufacturers decide to discontinue one of their items or even a whole range… the reasons for this are varied… maybe it was not a top seller, perhaps the size or colour was not popular or it was replaced by another range…whatever the reason the display model will now have to be sent to clearance.

Customer Oops!

Like every furniture retailer we always ask our customers to measure their doorways and passageways before we attempt a delivery. Occasionally there is a problem with the customer’s calculations or they didn’t take into account ‘that awkward twist’ on the stairs. An under-calculation by just half an inch can cause a failed delivery.

We try our very best to complete every delivery but sometimes it just will not work. In this case the furniture has to be returned to the warehouse and moved to the Clearance Section while the customer reselects.

Manufacture Ooops!

Occasionally human error takes place and our trusted manufacturers make a mistake in reading our order and the wrong colour, finish or pattern is sent to us. In this case the correct item is re-ordered and we keep the mis-ordered peace and it joins our Clearance Sale.

Dings and Scratches

Periodically, during shipment, delivery and storage items can get accidentally damaged. The damage maybe small and cosmetic in nature and does not effect the function of the piece but nevertheless that piece cannot be sold as new and will end up being sold as Clearance.

Be Smart, Buy Clearance

So in essence Clearance merchandise is not inferior, it’s just that we can’t keep them anymore and it's time to find them a new home. Clearance items can sell for as much as 60% off the best previous price and so are a great bargain. Apart from the obvious great reductions in price there are several other reasons that our customers are heading for the clearance aisle right now and those include…

  • PRICES HAVE NOT BEEN AFFECTED BY THE RISE IN THE COST OF FUEL
  • ITEMS ARE AVAILABLE FOR IMMEDIATE DELIVERY, NO WAITING AROUND
  • PRICES ARE NOT AFFECTED BY THE HUGE LEAP IN SHIPPING PRICES
  • NO LONG LEAD TIMES WHICH ARE A PRODUCT OF THE PANDEMIC
  • PRICES ARE EXEMPT FROM THE NEW TARIFS FOR EUROPEAN GOODS

Those are 5 great reasons for you to visit our super huge Clearance Sale today!
